Power of smile

私は、クライアント企業に出かけるとき以外は、毎朝、近くのスーパーで買い物をするのが日課です。そこで、ちょっとストレスなのが、レジの列に並ぶこと。レジは５つぐらい稼働していますが、それぞれに数人が並んでいます。だから、仏頂面とはいかなくとも結構、無表情な顔で並んでいると思います。今朝も、いつものように列に。ふと、前にいる幼児が私を見上げました。私は、反射的にほほ笑みました。すると彼女も嬉しいらしく、何度も、私を振り返ります。ところで、買い物籠を置くレジ台には、二つまでしか載りません。そして、結構、無神経に一つのままにしているレジ担当者やお客さんが。しかし、その女の子は、私の籠が置けるように、小さな手で自分たちの籠をスライドしてくれたのです。小学生も中学生も高校生も大学生も社会人も子供だと思っていたけれど、幼児の心遣いに電撃が走りました。そして、その淑女は、モダンは三輪車のようなものに乗ってお母さんと並んで去って行きました。
